The green tea that tastes good.

Green Tea Sampler Gifts for Tea Lovers.

We all know that green tea and, for that matter many other herbal teas are good for our health and well being  We all make our resolutions to replace the  the soda, the sugary drinks with something healthier but we never quite make it past the occasional cup. Fortunately  there are some green tea leaves out there that are enjoyable, whether if you prefer them hot, cold, sweetened or as they are. My boss gave me a green sampler for a cheap (probably recycled) gift, for my birthday. Yeah I always knew she didn’t like me. Well since I haven’t got anyone else to re gift the box to (I do like my friends) I opened the box, made the tea, (with the intention of rinsing my hair with it …it’s good for dandruff as well you know, plus adds a healthy shine to any type of hair) . I also tasted it and there, was my revelation. It didn’t taste bad. It wasn’t the usual rough taste you get when you force yourself to drink  those cheap green teas from the supermarket, because they’re good for you. I drank it hot and unsweetened and I didn’t rinse my hair with it (for that I used the cheap supermarket stuff..). Over the few days, i sampled the other teas in the green tea sampler, discovered subtle, delicate, pleasant flavors (although not as strong and satisfying as Fanta or Scotch  but hey…it’s good for you) and now I’m converted. I have a cuppa every day. – the good one. Later, knowing that I’ve drank my healthy detoxifying  stuff, I can enjoy a guilt free tasty and unhealthy drink or more.
I also became convinced that my boss likes me after all. Every time I see her, I use the opportunity to tell her how much better I feel since I’m drinking green tea. However, for her birthday, I will gift her the edible green tea powder and leaves. (I know she’ll appreciate it, if she’ll  ever decide to eat it )

Gunpowder Green Tea

Price: 10.00Although most Americans are familiar with the smaller “pinhead” style of Gunpowder Green Tea, there are many larger styles of this distinctive Chinese green. Ours is a “rock”-style tea, which means it has been rolled into the size and shape of pebbles. These densely packed, blue-green leaves have a mossy aroma when dry and release bold, roasty, green aromas as they open over multiple infusions. The brew is surprisingly minty, with some roasty, vegetal and ginseng notes. Its spearmint flavor is very mild and mellow compared to the typical astringent (or even harsh) Gunpowder greens on the market, and its robust, tongue-draping finish makes it perfect for sipping with roasted meats or grilled lamb. Fans of Houjicha green tea, mint lattes or mint-infused water will love this refreshing green tea hot or iced with honey.
